Sophie Brasselet

Biography

Sophie Brasselet graduated in Optics and Photonics at Ecole Superieure d’Optique, Orsay France in 1994. She obtained her Ph.D. in 1997 at University of Paris-Sud, France, under the supervision of J. Zyss on the study of multipolar molecules’ design for nonlinear optical applications in solutions and polymer thin films. She spent a two years postdoc with W.E. Moener at UCSD and Stanford University, USA, on single fluorescent molecules imaging in cells. She was appointed in 2000 as an Assistant Professor at Ecole Normale Superieure de Cachan, France, where she was leading a research project on nonlinear microscopy and optical manipulation of single molecules. She moved to Aix Marseille University, France in 2006 and is appointed since 2009 as a CNRS research director at Institut Fresnel, Marseille, France. She is leading researches on novel instrumentation developments for fluorescence and nonlinear imaging for biology, from single molecules to tissues, focusing on the control of polarization and wavefront in time and space.
